Things best left to the experts

Beware! This is what happens when the uninitiated venture beneath the computer desk. It's not pretty.

We have friends who know things. They know all about computers and web pages. If you live in Kanata (and if you have to ask, you don't) and find yourself in need of a computer guru (who won't make you feel inadequate or stupid, or charge you an arm and a leg) just give Kate and Ed a call. Attfield Associates to the rescue!

Computer stuff requires experts. Drawing does not.

We like to draw ... or, at least Cheryl likes to draw. That's no secret. Did you know drawing's also therapeutic? Drawing is like meditating. Or knitting in the round. It's calming and we can spend hours at it. But one thing drawing is not, is difficult. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone at all. It's like learning to touch type or play the piano. It's a skill. A learnable skill.

What you do with the skill ... that's where the art comes in.

For anyone who's ever wished s/he could draw, go get yourself a copy of Betty Edward's book, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Do the exercises. Learn to draw. Simple. You're welcome!

  1. Your drawing made me think if a funny story. When my son was about 2 1/2, he came into the room and said he had made it all tidy now. What the heck was he referring to? he said it was daddy's computer. he then led up downstairs and showed us that it was now neat and tidy under daddy's computer table. None of those hanging cables. Turns out he had taken wire cutters and cut off all those messy cables and tucked away all the ends. Aside from cut cables, he also managed to 'blow' some bits and pieces (transistors/resistors) on the mother board. hubby was not impressed, but it truly was the last time it was tidy under that table.

  3. Do you happen to have recommendations for needing 4 remotes to operate TV, DVD, and PVR? Ours have decided to go on strike. ;-)

  5. The part about drawing that is more difficult to do is creating the inspired original pictures, much like yours, gramma coco! And the part about computer repair is the desire to give just that extra service and inspired knowledge to fix what needs to be fixed and not to break other things so as to be called back later, which I have always believed that auto mechanics do everytime I take my car in for one thing they loosen bolts or stick a pin in a hose so that in a week or two you need another "little" repair done...
