Blue Monday

Today's supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. Blue Monday. We heard this on Canada AM, so we guess it must be true. You have to imagine that last sentence spoken with tongue firmly placed in cheek. When we tried to investigate, we got some reference to a mathematical equation involving weather conditions and debt and time since Christmas. Very official and scientific. Again  . . . imagine the tongue and cheek business. We also read that it was started as part of a campaign by some air line. Now, THAT part rings true. :)

At any rate, if you're having a slow start to the day, or just generally feeling sad, we offer this little bit of nonsense as a bit of good cheer. ALL our drawings are intended as nonsense. This one's no different.

The Illustration Friday topic this week is . . . Myth. Honestly, who makes these things up? Myth. This is all we've got. Pull up a rock, and help yourself to a marshmallow.

  1. A little chilly to be sitting by the camp fire today, but I appreciate the sentiment!

  3. I hadn't heard of Blue Monday, either, but that's okay, because I really make it a point to embrace every day. Roasting marshmallows seems like a fine idea. I like your illustration a lot--the style, and the cozy composition of it.

  4. I am way behind this week! two relatives had surgeries this week so my mind was occupied with thoughts of them, both turned out well, so now I can go back to my regularly scheduled activities -- sitting in my chair and crocheting...

They say that we who live in the Pacific Northwest are more prone to that Blue Monday thing because we have so much cloud and rain, further east you get alot more sun, but all that snow this winter is what would have me cryin' the blues, so the rain here just pours down the street drains and doesn't have to be shovelled keeps me quite chipper!

I don't get how myth and marshmallows go together, but there must be some sort of myth in the way marshmallows are made and why are they sticky inside and not outside?
